Competency Assessment

The SDS and Label Authoring Registry Competency Assessment is designed to determine an individual's proficiency in classification and labeling under the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) international standard.  The assessment is composed of a multiple-choice question assessment that focuses on the knowledge areas in the Body of Knowledge (BoK) and a practical assessment solely based on the applicant's ability to utilize the GHS to classify one substance and one mixture using the provided data set and complete an Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Study Guide

Prepared by the program's Subject Matter Expert team, the Competency Assessment Study Guide is designed to help you prepare for passing the competency assessment.  It is a guide for What to Expect and How to Prepare.  The study guide describes the content covered and expectations of the two parts of the competency assessment: the written knowledge test and the practical skills assessment.

Schedule

Competency Assessments for this program will be offered at least 4 times a year at SCHC's annual Spring and Fall meetings and at AIHA's annual conferences: AIHce and AIHA Fall Conference.  To reserve a seat at one of our Competency Assessments and enroll in the SDS and Label Authoring Registry complete and submit the General Application, Qualifications Requirements Worksheet and SDS and Label Authoring Registry Enrollment Form.  Forms must be received by the Application Deadline.
